The Dark Knight Returns is a classic piece of comic book literature that helped transition Batman from the campy character he had been turned into back to the grim and gritty protector of the streets that he was meant to be. The story depicts a Gotham City that has been without Batman for years, since Bruce Wayne has gotten old and finally put away the cape and cowl. However, a series of crime waves in the city drives Batman to return despite his age, taking on a world that has become more violent and deranged than anything he faced in his younger days.

The Dark Knight Returns deserves some major recognition for the way it renewed the character of Batman. Years later, many writers are still basing their Batman stories on the themes that Frank Miller re-introduced. Unfortunately, the story also suffers from an immense shortcoming in Miller's writing repertoire -- namely, the ability to make characters seem human.

Batman is an antihero who goes against the law if needed to make sure that justice prevails. He is anything but the square-jawed paragon of perfection that Superman is. At the same time, he is supposed to be a thinking, feeling person who has a greater view of the world than his war on crime. That is unfortunately not the case with Miller's Batman. This Batman seems to have no empathy for other human beings, viewing them as nothing more than soldiers in his war on crime. He offhandedly ignores the fact that Robin died in his crusade, referring to him only as a "good soldier." And he seems willing to place anyone in the path of danger if it means winning a victory against the criminals he is fighting. Quite simply, Frank Miller takes the "man" out of Batman -- he takes away the human element of the character, leaving very little reason for the reader to care about what happens to him rather than viewing him as a psychopath who just happens to solve some crimes.

The Dark Knight Returns is a key piece of Batman history, and Frank Miller's art style and narrative tells an innovative and dark tale that helped breathe new life into the character. Unfortunately, as Frank Miller often does, he ignores the human element of the character, assuming that the reader will side with Batman simple because he is Batman. Because of this failing, I can only give The Dark Knight Returns three stars. It is a solid story, but one that lacks a true hero to follow.

I purchased this game as an educational toy for my toddlers; what better way to learn their colors. The mat is very large and "waterproof" so it's great for them to eat snacks on. They use it as a dance mat too.

Fun toy for babies of all ages. My son started enjoying this at 3months and still likes it at 27months.

We bought this for my son's 3rd birthday. It is very sturdy and he loves it! He is learning how to use it very quickly, and in comparison to some of the smaller onces, I feel much more confident that he's safe on this scooter.

I love my webkinz bottle nosed dolphin. It was only my second webkinz so I got an underwater room. My toy chihuahua gets a cool bubble when it enters the room. It has it's own cool underwater theme that you can only put in an underwater room. The only other pets are the goldfish and the manatee. I think it is cool that it is the only webkinz that has eyebrows. You can only hears it's own voice at doctor Quacks office. When I got it, I got the tractor and the dolphin fountain. Only dolphin owners can get it unless someone sends it to you. It has the webkinz logo on it`s flipper. It is soft and cuddly. On webkinz it's favorite food is hot hermit crab cookies. I like it also because I got it from amazon.com and it came very fast. I am allergic to fur that comes off when you pet it but it has short velvety fur that does not come off when you comb it. It is very cuddly and I can not sleep without it. I am my moms daughter named Nalanda Holly Lamb. I named my bottle nosed dolphin Misty. On webkinz my username is Holly515. Hope you like my review!

I just received my shippment from Amazon.com tonight and I have to say very fast delivery. Very pleased with doing business.
As for the Toy, I have bought 5 of them for christmas presents for the boys inthe family. Well my daughter who is 8 years old seen them and just couldn't help but beg to play with one. And I opened the box and turned it on and she hasn't put it down since.
She has figured out so far how to get it to work and with no instruction from me. So you know it is good when an 8 year old can figure out how to play the game.
She even put down her Nintendo DS to pick up this toy. I am very pleased with this product. I had only seen it on QVC before I found it at Amazon, and thought it would be a great gift and couldn't beat the price so I jump on it. And I know now that this is going to be a huge hit for this christmas.
And so happy that I have half done with the christmas shopping thanks to this cool little toy.

I ordered this paper to go with the Froggy easel, but it was the wrong size, so be careful when you order this. I was confused because it was featured with a statement that "people who purchased this easel also bought this item."

This is a nice product, my children enjoy playing with it very much. Lego's are certainly for children only, though. Adults should not be playing with them.

This is a cute toy but does not nearly come with enough nerf darts for the price of the toy.
