We bought this combination package of mix-and-match puzzles for our niece, who is just over a year old. As with most Melissa and Doug products, it is sturdy, brightly colored, and easy for young hands to manipulate. And what a reasonable price -- these puzzles are $10-15 EACH in our local bookstores.
We love the mix-and-match idea. She can learn first how to put the puzzle pieces into any opening. Then, she'll eventually find a new challenge with this same toy when she grasps the concept of matching the color and design. Essentially, two puzzles in one for each of these!
Gotta say, I was tempted to open it and play with it myself! ;-)
My 8 year old daughter enjoys this! I purchased this because she is also taking a fashion class. she has spent hours creating!
My 5-year old just started Kindergarten, but LOVES math (which they will only really cover a little of sometime this year). I bought this for him after his first day of school (he's "earned" a toy, and the one he planned on wasn't available). He choose this instead. He loves it. Its easy to use, even for one not too accustomed to computers, etc. He has had trouble with other electronic toys that try to get him to answer in X seconds, but loves that this tells him how long it took him, but doesn't pressure him to get it done in a certain time. The progression from easier to harder on the levels is great. He was "way past" some early levels, but he could do some mid-levels and still be challenged. We even discovered he could divide while he used this toy, though we didn't really know that before (other than 4 divided by 2 or such). He loves this toy so much, he took it to show and tell at school.
I would highly recommend for either kids struggling to remember things like times tables, or kids who just love doing math problems and want to be continually challenged. I'm sure this toy will last my little one for a long time, as there is so much to learn with it. Oh... he also loves to use it as a calculator. Its amazing how many things he finds to "calculate" in everyday life!
My Grandson had been talking about this toy for several months. When
it arrrived at his house on his birthday he was excited. He has played
with it over and over and takes it with him when visiting me or his Aunts.
It appears to be a safe toy for an 8 year old and very durable. If your
child loves Lego's and Star Wars then you can feel safe obtaining this for the child.
My 6-year old, very active son received this gift for his birthday. When we took it out of the box, we didn't know what to expect. I tried it first, and could see quickly how this toy/game could really work you out. My son and his friends tried it and were having a good time challenging each other...until one of the pods broke!! The design is so simple, but we can't seem to figure out why the green pod doesn't work anymore. We haven't even had it a month. These boys are a little rough, and I wasn't watching when it broke; but I can't see how it could've broken. We were really enjoying the game, so for the cost I might just replace it.
If you know of or have a daredevil child - this is the item to have!! You can do all sorts of tricks - It's like a skateboard with a handle. Love the base.
Only pets should come a knockin' to this pets-only treetop hangout! Whether they're swinging from a vine, skating down the ramp or just enjoying the rooftop view, there's a good time in store for you and your bobble-headed friends. Playset comes with two pets and lots of accessories. Measures 4.25"L x 15"W x 12"H.
ok, this is a really great and cute learning toy, but the age recommendation says 3-7yr old. It is wayyyyy more appropiate for the 18 mo. to 3yr old. most 4 yr olds already know the alphabet and letter sounds, and a 7 yr old would definitely find it boring and babyish!
